Grant Process & Submission

Sweet Geeks Foundation proudly provides grants for a wide variety of youth development programs and individuals currently battling cancer in Southern California. We aim to collaborate as thought partners, learn from nonprofits, and foster mutual accountability. By establishing meaningful relationships with our grantees, applicants, and community partners, we strive to cultivate lasting positive change in the lives of those we serve.

The grant process at Sweet Geeks Foundation is entirely automated through Temelio, a grantmaking software. Once you pass the Eligibility Quiz, you will be prompted to create a Temelio account to submit an LOI.

Sweet Geeks Foundation provides funding in two cycles:

Youth Development Grant Applications are open from June 1 to June 30 and are reviewed at the August board meeting. Only four grants are available, ranging from $5,000 to $10,000.

Cancer Relief Grant Applications are open from October 1 to October 31 and are reviewed at the November board meeting. This category has up to ten grants available, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000.

Youth Development Grants

In underserved communities, investing in youth development is not just about individual success; it's about breaking the cycle of generational poverty and providing a pathway to a brighter future for entire families and communities. By empowering young people, we can foster a sense of agency and resilience, equipping them to overcome systemic barriers and contribute positively to society. We strongly believe in helping every young person unlock their full potential, ensuring that they have access to the necessary resources and opportunities to cultivate their talents, pursue their passions, and build a successful path for their futures. We support organizations that offer these life-changing resources to youth who might otherwise lack access to them.

Cancer Relief Grants

We have seen first-hand the hardships that come with a cancer diagnosis, and we are committed to easing the financial and emotional burden experienced by many cancer patients during treatment. The cost of cancer treatment often leaves patients struggling to meet their basic needs, and beyond that, makes it difficult for them to simply be able to relax or have fun without constant stress. To address these challenges, we offer two types of cancer relief grants: financial relief grants for those in need of assistance with their medical expenses, household bills, etc. and experience grants for those in need of an emotional pick-me-up, who would prefer a fun or relaxing escape instead.
